To be able to purchase numbers from Multitel you will need two things, a Multitel account, and funds in that account to purchase the numbers with.
Once you log into your account you will be taken to your dashboard. From Here you will click on the “Buy Numbers” button below the red “Balance” box (as pictured below).
From Here you will see a map of our coverage area. Below the map is a drop down menu that you will use to select the country that you wish to purchase numbers from.
PLEASE NOTE for certain countries extra documentation will be required to enable the DID. A full list of those countries and documents needed is listed here:
To Purchase a DID that doesn’t require documentation the steps are as follows:

3) You should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of purchase if the number has been submitted.
When Checking Out:
Before you purchase your new DID, there will be several options to help you better suit your new number to your particular needs
For this section you are able to specify different setting specifically to the DID you’re going to purchase
Description: name you can assign to your DID, this will have no effect on the DID other than giving it a label to help differentiate it from other of your purchased numbers -- This setting is optional.
Record Calls: Option to record calls - please note that this option will soon be obsoleted as it is being transitioned to our Hosted PBX service. - This setting is optional
Call Screening: Here you are able to prompt an IVR that will ask for the person calling to state their name. - This setting is optional and might interfere with your call flows (since call will already be picked up at the time it reaches its final destination)
Cnam: Valid for US, Canada, Australia and the UK - when a call comes in, the system will attempt to identify the name of the caller and present it on your phone screen (if call is being forwarded to you via SIP or to your Hosted PBX instance). - Please note that choosing this option will incur charges on your account (typically $0.004/call)
Forward Destination: Menu to select where you would like your call to be routed to. Options include a Hosted PBX, SIP URI, Dial number, Conference to name a few
URI profile: - here you can choose a predetermined URI (which can be configured here: https://www.multitel.net/auth/setting ) and upon choosing it, the URI, URI2 and URI3 fields will be filled in. Please note that going through the set up of the URI profile is optional.
URI: This is where this number should ring to. If the Forward Destination is set to “Dial” , please provide the phone number where the call is to be forwarded to here (please use the full number, including country code). If forwarding the call to a SIP destination, provide it in this form: account@sipserver . Do not specify a protocol in front of the URI (sip: or SIP: is not required). If you’re using a different port than standard, you can add it at the end of the URI: account@sipserver:5090
URI2: same as above
URI3: same as above
Please note: filling in just the above described options is enough for you to proceed with the number purchase. All the other information - presented below - is optional and will work just fine with the default values, without you needing to alter it in any way. =====================================================================
Features: Icons indicate the number capability (whether it can transport Voice calls, SMS messages and MMS messages)
Setup fee: Initial cost to set up your DID
Monthly Fee: recurring cost for DID each month.
Perminutes: Cost per/minute to use DID
Free Minutes: Incoming calls will not be cost you anything while your usage is within the Free Minutes . These minutes are replenished monthly. All overages are billed at the “Per minutes” rate.
Number of channels: Here you can select how many simultaneous calls you want to be able to get at any given time. 2 channels is the standard amount, but some numbers have the option to add more for an added cost. Some numbers will have less (such as mobile numbers in some countries).
This panel will determine if you would like the DID to have the option to receive faxes on this number.
Fax rings: How many times would you like the line to ring before system decides the call is a fax message or not a fax message. If a call is decided not to be a fax message, call will be forwarded further to whatever “Forward Destination” you have set.
Fax email: Email faxes can be digitally sent to.
This panel lets you set up settings related to voice mails
VoiceMail Ring: how many rings do you want before voicemail picks up the call.
VoiceMail Email: Email that you would like to have digital recordings of the voice mails sent to
VoiceMail Speech2Text: Option to have voicemails translated into a text that will be sent to you via e-mail. Please note that only English language is currently supported.
Ring Type: This option decides if the URI, URI2 and URI3 options will be called Sequential (in their natural order - URI, URI2, URI3) , Simultaneous (all of them ringing at the same time) or Randomly
Ring Style: Option to have a normal ring or music played to the person calling
Force Codec: This option tells our system to attempt to switch to a certain codec after the call has been initiated (we attempt to send all calls as G711ulaw by default)
Force Dtmf: This option tells our system to try to enforce a certain DTMF method (by default rfc2833)
Once all these settings have been filled in to your particular needs, you can click the “Purchase” button at the bottom of the page. Once this is clicked you will have purchased your DID and a confirmation email will be sent to you.
